Title: You're on an Airplane: A Self-Mythologizing Memoir Author: Parker Posey Genre: scrapbook memoir

Parker Posey is a yoga-loving, deadpan, introspective weirdo and I want to be her best friend. I know her from Dazed and Confused, Blade, and Lost in Space. She plays a crazy bitch extREMELY well, and I love love love this tasty look into her mind.

This book is a little all over the place in the best kind of way. What comes through the most is Posey's awe of life, and her ability to not take anything too seriously - especially herself. This, paired with the uncanny ability to not scare easily, is incredibly engaging. She recounts an interaction with a homeless man in East Hastings, Van, who said he recognized her from a movie. How, she asked him, as he was homeless, and had no TV. Not malicious or stuck-up - just pure inquisitiveness.

The pages of this book are also speckled with these strange geometrical collages made up of Posey's face and body parts, old pictures, and what could very well be pictures of fabric. It's odd, confusing, and totally fits with the book and Posey's vibe.
