Title: Down Among the Sticks and Bones (Wayward Children #2)
Author: Seanan McGuire
Genre: fantasy

Didn't love this as much as the first book, Every Heart a Doorway, but it's still a nice read. McGuire makes a smart choice, having this as the second book in the series, because we know how it ends. There is tension in the how, the why, the everything that's between Jack and Jill's first encounter with the door and how we see them at the end of the first book.
I was a bit deflated when the word "vampire" showed up. If there's anything that's overplayed to death, it's freaking vampires. (And zombies. Don't talk to me about effing zombies.) But, McGuire does a pretty good job of keeping things spooky.
