Title: Saving Montgomery Sole
Author: Mariko Tamaki
Genre: YA
Maybe this is another case of being too removed from the target audience (i.e. young adults), but I thought the lesson of the story, the epiphany that the protag, Montgomery, has after the Crisis is just too simple.

Get this - people aren't what they seem.
NO SHIT.
I was pretty disappointed in this book. For all the makings of glory, the writing fell flat and the characters around Montgomery stole the spotlight. She was angry, and maybe I'm too far removed from teen angst, but the author seems just as confused by Monty's anger as Monty is. As such, the Crisis scene didn't pack much of a punch, and left me feeling unfulfilled. All this drama because she doesn't understand the whole don't judge a book by it's cover? Really?
Oh well.
