Title: Less

Author: Andrew Sean Greer

Genre: satirical gay fiction

I didn't truly fall for this book until someone told to sit down and really get comfy with it. In spurts and strides, this book is tough to get into - the descriptions are just a bit too long, the character development too gentle. But once you give this book its due, the true genius becomes apparent.

This book is about getting old and falling in and out of love; it's about people and places and your impression of those people and places - and their impression of you. The writing is quirky and energetic, and Arthur Less is a lovable fool who seems to stumble through life in the best way possible. He's an unexpected inspiration, making me yearn to travel without a map, and make the most wonderful kinds of mistakes. Maybe growing older doesn't seem quite so bad...
