This book is just lovely. It's short and it's strange, and full of vibrant characters who are just odd enough, just off-kilter enough, to be achingly charming. Plus, you know, some of them burst into flames.

This feel-good, sunny day kind of story is more about family and love and making the best out of what you have more than anything else. The writing is solid, and the protag, Lillian, is dang cool and compassionate, in addition to being just freaking hilarious. Wilson does an amazing job with all the characters - but Lillian in particular is strongstrongstrong. The way she speaks is unique but believable, and how she approaches situations and thinks things through is a harmonious balance of the logical and the marvelous.

Lovelovelooooved it.
