HOW THE HELL HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS BOOK BEFORE. Non-gendered protag, magic and tech, exciting/beautiful prose, organic character growth, character-driven plot...DAYUM!
This book surprised me in all the best ways. I absolutely LOVE the blending of all the seemingly unrelated things - weaponized humans and Voodoo, all set in a pop-culture, cyberpunk milieu (i.e. the original Ready Player One). Finally, a nominated sci-fi book about a woman with a diverse and complex cast.
EMMA BONE YOU ARE A TREASURE.
